鎌倉時代、源頼朝が狐水稲荷神社へ奥州討伐の成果報告と神に対する心礼を込め、神社境内南に「しだれ桜」、北に「エドヒガン桜」を植えたと伝えられている。

It is said that Minamoto no Yoritomo planted Shidare-Zakura in the south and Edohigan-Zakura in the north of the shrine grounds in the Kamakura period to commemorate his success in defeating the Oshu forces and to thank the gods for their kindness.
